Erwin Duran – Musician, Producer & Live Sound Engineer
Born in 1986 in the Lower East Side of Manhattan, New York, Erwin Duran discovered his passion for music at an early age. At just five years old, he began playing the piano, setting the foundation for his musical journey. By the age of ten, he expanded his skills by learning the güira and tambora, essential instruments in Dominican music. His love for Bachata led him to pick up the guitar, which became a key part of his musical identity.
In 1999, Erwin joined Arjelis Gomez y su Grupo NV as a rhythm guitarist, marking the start of his professional career. By 2004, he transitioned into the Merengue Típico scene as a keyboardist for T-Urban. His versatility continued to shine when, in 2008, he became the rhythm guitarist for Toby Love, further cementing his presence in the Bachata genre.
By 2012, Erwin expanded his expertise by learning studio engineering and music production, perfecting his craft by 2017. He became proficient in producing Merengue, Bachata, Hip-Hop, Reggaeton, and Merengue Típico. Over the years, he has recorded numerous artists, including Toby Love, Max Agende from Aventura, and Jose Reyes from the Mets baseball team, among many others. His skills in mixing and mastering have further solidified his reputation as a well-rounded music professional.
At the end of 2017, Erwin joined Tipico Urbano as a keyboard player, blending his skills with the evolving sound of Merengue Típico. His journey continued in 2024 when he became the keyboard player for Jomar Rodriguez. Now, as of the present day, he serves as the live sound engineer for Geniswing, showcasing his technical expertise in live music production.
With decades of experience in multiple genres, Erwin Duran remains a dedicated and influential figure in the Latin music scene, continually evolving as both a musician, producer, and sound engineer.
